Bacardi & Company Ltd. – Model 24B-16
Bacardi & Company approached Maxim Watermakers looking for an economical desalination solution to create high purity water for use in their beverage processes. They had no access to adequate supplies of high purity water. Additionally, they were encountering constituents in the sea water that were highly corrosive. They needed an engineered solution. Maxim Watermakers designed and manufactured a flash type, 16-stage, steam-operated distilling unit for their plant in Nassau, Bahamas, containing components made of titanium. This unit is capable of producing up to 100,000 gallons per day of the highest quality water from sea water.
Noble Drilling Company – Model 2-TCFE-10
Maxim Watermakers was asked to design an efficient unit for the Clyde Boudreaux, producing 10,000 gallons per day, with a limited amount of available waste heat. While there were a total of six engines, only four engines would be operating while the evaporator was running.
Maxim Watermakers designed and manufactured a double-effect, thermal circulation flash type, low pressure steam-operated distilling plant. This plant was designed to produce up to 10,000 gallons per day of potable fresh water from sea water at high efficiency while conserving space and weight.
USCGC HAMILTON WHEC 715 – Model TU-106HR
Maxim Watermakers designed and manufactured a six stage flash type, heat recovery or low pressure distillation unit for this 378-foot high endurance cutter. This plant is capable of producing up to 10,000 gallons per day of potable fresh water when supplied by a heat source of jacket water.

U.S.N.S. MERCY & U.S.N.S. COMFORT
The U.S.N.S. Mercy & her sister ship U.S.N.S. Comfort were built to provide mobile surgical hospital service by the U.S. Government agencies in humanitarian civic assistance, disaster or humanitarian relief, or limited humanitarian care incident to these missions or peacetime military operations.
Maxim Watermakers designed and manufactured a three stage flash type, low pressure, steam-operated distilling plant. This plant is capable of producing up to 75,000 gallons per day of fresh water from sea water at high efficiency.
The U.S.N.S Comfort has been deployed for numerous operations including Operation Desert Shield & Desert Storm; the 9/11 terrorist attacks on the World Trade Center; Operation Iraqi Freedom; Hurricane Katrina; and the Haiti earthquake.
The U.S.N.S. Mercy has also participated in numerous operations including Operation Desert Shield and the tsunami in Indonesia.
U.S. NAVY SUBMARINE TENDERS – FRANK CABLE & EMORY S. LAND
Maxim Watermakers designed and manufactured a six stage flash type distillation unit for these two U.S. Navy submarine tenders. Each ship was equipped with two plants producing a combined 100,000 gallons per day.
Maxim Watermakers recently participated in the refurbishment of these distillation plants. The distillation plants were in impeccable condition after 30 years of operation.
